Heart Broken Finding My Rottie!

IT HAS BEEN 1.5 YEARS SINCE MY SERVICE DOG DIED

I WANT MY BELOVED ROTTWEILER

Thinking it would be easier to Adopt a rescue Rottweiler from around the nation. NOPE!

I have spent a good 10 months searching, finding and coming in second. Or being told — “We do not adopt out of state.”

With 24 years experience with Rottweilers alone, adding, Australian Blue Heelers, Lhasa Apsos, Mastiffs, Mutts found on streets, and my dear Buddi, my horse trail dog; a white Shepherd/Husky mix. All well mannered, sociable and mostly — working service dogs within my career as a Trauma Recovery specialist.

Rescue organizations, you must consider adopting out of state to experienced loving people. There are too many dogs at risk, especially large black dogs, they are the first to be euthanized, in the 65 million annually euthanized of domesticated animals who are given up, either to a shelter or dumped on a back road, large black dogs are always the first to be killed.

I thought I found him, my next adult Rottie male!!! Taking almost three months in speaking with a rescue operator. At the last minute, truth was revealed, as I readied for a 2400 mile trip to pick him up. My potential new adult male Rottweiler was on major pain medications for arthritis and hip dysplasia. Along with a broken heart from his original owner, a lady, had recently died of cancer, he was passed to her sister — who could not handle his pain and angst, off to a rescue organization.

Rottweilers are loyal and need to Bond — quickly. Rotties require the Bonding aspects in life from eons of selective breeding, it is their DNA structure!

When I read the meds and spoke with my vet, my heart RENTED and I sobbed!!

Hearing more news, the rescuer had given him to another woman, she returned him, stating “He is too much dog for me.” Now thrice abandoned, from owners’ death, to a sister who did not understand his pain and reactiveness, to being adopted by an inexperienced woman…. NO, this does not work for Rottweilers, nor a human.

A dear Rottweiler friend said, “You are stronger than that!” Yes, I am strong enough to have my heart broken and allow the emotions to stagger inside of me! Feeling to the depths takes fortitude and courage.

Rottweilers are Monolithically Misrepresentation: Rottweilers ARE NOT that dog, displayed in most movies or TV shows, symbolizing and epitomizing a viciousness animal; that is the human mind, not the Rottweilers’!

Rottweilers are great horse pals

Rottweilers are gentle with children, great service and comfort dogs, wonderfully adaptive around horses, cattle drivers, sheep herding, cart pulling and much more, all due to their muscular size. Their hearts are larger than their average weight of approximately 100 pounds (give a few under or over).

I love my Rottweilers dearly. A breed of high intelligence, loyalty, LOVE, and powerful. Rottweilers are A LOT OF DOG! And it takes a devoted human, with keen intelligence, who adore the breed to house them for their lifetime.

The Rottweiler is a direct descendant of the Cane Corso, both dearly

loved dogs and LARGE!

Yes!!! Rottweilers, even at 80 pounds, are a LOT OF DOG!

They come with a 3000 year plus history, bred through the ancient Molossian hound, a breed of large dog in the ancient kingdom of Molossis, in the region of Epiru.

Molossus Mastiffs origins originated from 15 varieties; some now extinct.

Recently, in my quest for a beloved male Rottweiler, I joined a huge Rottweiler association on FaceBook — the creator and monitor of these pages is Michele, incredible lady with a great deal of knowledgeable and passion for the breed.

Astounding, the list of Rottweiler listings across the nation, in rescues, pleading to be rescued from shelters, on shelters’ kill lists, abandoned, in serious need of medical attention and notices listed on breeder scamming intentions. Michele demands proof of authenticity from all breeders, displaying trustworthy detail! She will post when finding a breeder not adhering to the best standards, or those who request funds prior to any persons visiting the location of stated Rottweiler puppies, with Dam and Sire available, either on-site or pedigree or both.

On these notification pages, there are many to choose from across the nation, and given my years of insight from ownership, and whence the Rottweiler came from, my own particulars are the German lineage; and yes, I have found a few exemplary male Rotties, thanks to the multitude of dogs shared — with location and condition. Michele herself shared a lovely German male, yet my heart could not budge.

Sigh — when will I be ready? These moments hurt!

The remarkable amount of knowledge, from a plethora of individuals sharing is paramount. We share our years of experience with the Rottweiler breed, the different personalities (!!), and, the teenage years (!!) that one will discover, at times with great shock. I did!!! And, it was my fault, it is always human error — never the dog!! Remember this statement. It is always human error — never the dog!!

One fact many do not know, it was our great Rottweilers who were the first dog on site at 911, when the twin towers were rendered to rubble.

Stated: “The Rottweilers would climb into areas no human could, find remains of those who had been killed. We gathered samples for DNA identification, and notify their families. Our Rottweilers were invaluable during the 911 search.”

In many states (including Colorado), the Rottweiler is one of the highest searched breeds, along with Cane Corso, Golden Retrievers, Labradors and German Shepherds. All great family dogs, as well as service, K-9, guardians and huge lap dog!

“Feel a need for a relationship? Get a Dog! My choice is a Rottweiler.”
